NMPAC Student Code of Conduct
Purpose
Students at Northern Michigan Performing Arts Center (NMPAC) are expected to uphold kindness, professionalism, and responsibility. This Code of Conduct ensures a safe, respectful, and positive environment for all performers.
1. Kindness & Team Culture
Students agree to:
- Treat all classmates with kindness and inclusion.
- Avoid bullying, gossip, cliques, or “mean girl” behavior.
- Support teammates and celebrate each other’s accomplishments.
2. Respect for Teachers, Staff & Parents
Students agree to:
- Show respect through words, actions, and attitude.
- Follow instructions promptly and maintain a positive classroom presence.
- Understand that their behavior reflects on NMPAC at all times.
- Cell phones and other devices are not allowed in the studio during class. Students are expected to leave devices in the dressing room and may check them between classes during the 5-minute change over.
3. Professionalism at Classes, Events & Competitions
Students agree to:
- Represent NMPAC with maturity and professionalism at all classes, rehearsals, performances, competitions, and public events.
- Demonstrate good sportsmanship by being gracious toward all competitors and studios.
- Maintain positive body language and refrain from negative comments or unsportsmanlike behavior.
- Follow backstage rules, stay quiet in wings and holding areas, and treat volunteers, staff, and venue personnel with courtesy.
- Keep studio and performance spaces clean and orderly.
4. Effort, Attendance & Punctuality
Students agree to:
- Try their best in every class and rehearsal.
- Arrive on time, prepared, and in proper attire.
- Communicate absences in advance when possible.
5. Safety, Boundaries & Cleanliness
Students agree to:
- Stay inside the studio unless given permission by NMPAC staff.
- Never leave the building during or between classes without authorization.
- Follow all safety instructions and use equipment responsibly.
- Keep the studio clean, including common areas, dressing rooms, and practice spaces.
- Personal cleanliness and deodorant are not options.
- No devices in class.
6. Agreement & Signature
By enrolling my child, I acknowledge that I have read, understand, and agree to follow the NMPAC Student Code of Conduct. I understand that failure to follow this Code may result in warnings, removal from routines, or suspension from NMPAC programs.
