NMPAC Parent Code of Conduct Contract
Purpose
Northern Michigan Performing Arts Center (NMPAC) is committed to providing a positive, safe, and supportive environment for all students, families, teachers, and staff. This Parent Code of Conduct outlines expectations designed to protect the integrity of our programs and ensure that every child can grow, learn, and thrive.
1. Celebration & Positive Support
Parents agree to:
- Celebrate their child’s accomplishments, progress, and effort.
- Encourage and uplift all teammates, not only their own child.
- Model sportsmanship and positivity at rehearsals, classes, performances, and events.
- Refrain from negative comparisons between students.
2. No Gossip or Negative Communication
Parents agree to:
- Avoid gossip, rumors, or negative discussions about students, parents, teachers, staff, or NMPAC policies.
- Address concerns directly and privately with NMPAC leadership through appropriate channels.
- Refrain from posting negative or harmful comments on social media regarding NMPAC or its participants.
3. Respect for Teachers & Staff
Parents agree to:
- Treat all teachers, staff, volunteers, and directors with respect at all times.
- Follow class, rehearsal, and performance guidelines as communicated by NMPAC.
- Allow instructors to teach without interruption or interference.
- Support NMPAC’s artistic decisions, choreography, casting, and classroom management.
4. Financial Responsibility
Parents agree to:
- Pay tuition, fees, costume charges, and other balances on time.
- Understand that late payments may result in late fees or suspension of participation until the account is current.
- Keep payment methods and contact information up to date.
5. Hold Harmless & Assumption of Risk
Parents acknowledge and agree that:
- Participation in dance, acting, music, and performing arts involves physical activity and inherent risk of injury.
- NMPAC, its owners, teachers, staff, and volunteers are not liable for injuries that may occur during classes, rehearsals, performances, or events.
- Parents agree to hold harmless and indemnify NMPAC from any claims arising from participation, except in cases of proven gross negligence.
6. Mediation & Arbitration Clause
Parents agree that:
- Any dispute, claim, or disagreement arising out of participation in NMPAC programs shall first be addressed through good‑faith mediation between the parent and NMPAC leadership.
- If mediation does not resolve the issue, the matter shall be submitted to binding arbitration, and not pursued through a lawsuit in court.
- Both parties waive the right to a civil lawsuit except to enforce an arbitration decision.
